Village RPGPrivacy policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Village RPG is a small online game. This page explains what the game stores about you, what it is used for, and how to remove it. It is short because there is not much to tell. There is no advertising and no analytics tracking, and no data is sold.
What we store
- Sign-in identity. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we store the account identifier the provider gives us so we can recognize you next time, and the email address the provider shares with us (with Apple, this may be a private relay address). We keep the address so we can contact you about your village, for example to answer a support request or to tell you about an important change to the game. We do not store your password, and we do not keep your name from the provider.
- Your player profile. The player name, village name, bio and portrait you choose. Your player name is visible to other players.
- Game progress. Inventory, skills, quests, farm plots, pets, buildings, purchases made with in-game currency, and the record of game actions that produced them.
- Things you write. Village chat messages and letters to other players are stored so they can be shown to the people you sent them to, and so moderators can act on reports.
- Friends, blocks and reports. Your friend list, players you have blocked, and reports you send or receive.
- A session cookie. A random token that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or up to a year for a guest village (which has no other way to find its owner). It holds no personal information.
- Notifications, in the iPhone app. If you allow notifications, we store the token Apple gives your phone so we can tell you when crops are ready, a letter arrives or a new day starts. It is removed when you sign out or delete your account, and you can switch notifications off in your phone’s settings at any time.
- A linked Patreon account. If you choose to link Patreon, we store your Patreon account’s identifier and what Patreon tells us about your pledge to the village: its status, tier, amount and next charge date. We never see your payment details, and we do not keep the access Patreon grants during linking.
- An App Store subscription, in the iPhone app. If you buy a membership in the app, Apple tells us the subscription’s identifier, tier, dates and whether it renews, and we keep that together with your village so the membership can be applied. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
- Feedback you send. A note sent with the Send feedback button is emailed to our support inbox with your player name and identifier, the page you were on, your browser or device type, and a reply address if you choose to give one. A reply address is also saved with your village so we can write back.
- Where you arrived from. When you first visit, a cookie remembers for 30 days the tag on the link you followed (such as
?ref=reddit) or the name of the site that linked here. If you start a village, that one word is saved with it so we can tell which posts bring new players. We also keep a daily count of front-page visits per source: just a number, with no IP address or device details.
What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data with anyone, except as needed to run the game or as required by law.
Who can see what
Other players can see your player name, village name, bio, portrait, showcased badges, leaderboard placings and the chat messages and letters you send them. Your sign-in identity, email address and session are never shown to anyone. Moderators can read reported chat messages and letters to decide whether a rule was broken.
Where it lives
The game runs on servers provided by Render, and its database is hosted with the same provider. Like any web host, Render keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses and request times) to operate the service. Sign-in is handled by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies; we only receive the identifier and email address described above. Notifications are delivered by Apple, feedback notes arrive in a Google Mail inbox, a copy of the player list (player and village names, email addresses, sign-up and last-seen dates, level and membership) is kept in a private Google Sheet that only the game’s team can open, pledges are handled entirely by Patreon, and subscriptions bought in the iPhone app are handled entirely by Apple.
How long we keep it
Everything above is kept for as long as your account exists. Sessions expire after 30 days (a year for guest villages). Chat messages and letters you delete are hidden immediately.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the account page inside the game. Deletion removes your sign-in identity, email addresses, profile, progress, friends, blocks and chat messages straight away and cannot be undone. Letters you sent stay in their recipients’ mailboxes without your name attached, and moderation records keep an anonymous reference so that past decisions remain accountable. Your rows in our player sheet, including any notes we kept about contacting you, are removed the next night. Feedback notes you already sent stay in our support inbox.
If you linked a Patreon account, the link is removed with your account. The record of Crystals already paid for that Patreon account this month is kept under the Patreon identifier alone until the month ends, so that a pledge cannot be paid out twice, and is then removed. What Patreon reports about the pledge itself stays for as long as the pledge exists, because it belongs to the Patreon account and not to a village. Deleting your account here does not cancel a pledge: that is done on Patreon.
If you bought a membership in the iPhone app, the subscription record is kept under Apple’s transaction identifier alone, with no village attached, so that Restore purchases can bring it into a new village and so that a month’s Crystals cannot be paid out twice. Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription: that is done in your Apple ID’s subscription settings.
Children
Village RPG is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep an account for anyone under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the game’s update notes and refresh the date at the top of this page. Questions, privacy requests and reports go to villagerpg.support@gmail.com.
